Samaiya Mushtaq

Dr. Samaiya Mushtaq is a psychiatrist, mental health educator, and writer. Samaiya earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University prior to completing a four-year residency in psychiatry. As a physician, Samaiya’s career has spanned academic psychiatry, consulting, and health-care administration. She is especially interested in mental health in Muslim communities. Samaiya’s essays and editorials have been published in The New York Times and The Dallas Morning News, and on Muslimmatters.org. She resides in Dallas, Texas, with her husband and children. Outside of work and spending time with family, Samaiya can be found reading, writing, or completing a crossword at a local coffee shop.
