Congratulations on completing your manuscript! We’re so excited you’re considering submitting to us.
Everything you need to know about Daybreak Press and the submission process can be found in the DBP Submission Guidelines. This document has information about what we’re looking for, detailed instructions on how to submit, examples of our Islamic guidelines for books, and advice for navigating the submissions process.
Before you submit, be sure to follow these steps for the greatest success:
- Seek feedback from at least three beta readers.
- Reread and revise.
- Proofread and polish.
Please also review the eligibility criteria in the DBP Submission Guidelines to ensure your manuscript aligns with Daybreak Press’s values.
When your manuscript is ready for submission, follow the instructions in the links for preparing your query or proposal. Submissions not accompanied by a proper query or proposal will not be considered.
- Adult, Young Adult, and Middle Grade Fiction: Submit a query, synopsis, and complete manuscript. For the synopsis, write a recap of all major plot points, including the ending (do not write the kind of stylistic marketing copy that goes on the back of a book). Manuscripts should be formatted in 12-point Times New Roman font and double-spaced and submitted as a Microsoft Word file.
- Adult, Young Adult, and Middle Grade Nonfiction: Submit a proposal, an outline, and at least three sample chapters. Manuscripts should be formatted in 12-point Times New Roman and double-spaced and submitted as a Microsoft Word file.
- Children’s Literature (including board books, picture books, early readers, and chapter books): Submit a query and manuscript. Manuscripts should be formatted in 12-point Times New Roman and double-spaced and submitted as a Microsoft Word file.
- Poetry: Submit a query and manuscript. A Microsoft Word document or a PDF may be submitted.
