Ustadha Safiyyah Salaam

Ustadha Safiyyah Salaam serves as an instructor in Teaching Methodologies for the Ribaat Academic Institute. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, and a master’s degrees in Collaborative Education and Educational Leadership. She also holds an English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement. Ustadha Safiyyah began her career in special education and eventually shifted to ESL where she has worked as a team leader, peer coach, and as an ESL Coordinator and is set to graduate with the Ribaat Teacher Certificate in 2024. She also previously served on the Rabata Board of Directors.

Currently, living in Memphis, Tennessee, Ustadha Safiyyah is the Director of Students Services at a local Islamic school. Her specialty areas include family engagement, instructional planning and delivery, co-teaching, and instructional coaching. In her volunteer life, she serves as the parliamentarian and member-at-large for TN TESOL (Tennessee Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) and, she serves as a course instructor and volunteer for the Ribaat Academic Institute.

Ustadha Safiyyah also volunteers on the Memphis Islamic Center Dawah team, teaching a course mainly targeted towards Muslim women converts. In addition, she is a wife, and mother of three teen daughters. Her core values are integrity, excellence, child-centeredness, empathy, and cultivation.

Ustadha Saffiyah started teaching with the Ribaat Academic Institute in 2017.
