Position Overview

The Rabata Cultural Center is seeking a Ramadan Children’s Program Officer to plan & execute a children’s program for our evening Tarawih Nights during the month of Ramadan. This short-term contracted role is ideal for someone who is passionate about creating engaging experiences for children.
The officer will be responsible for planning, organizing, and fully executing age-appropriate children’s programming during Tarawih prayers ensuring a safe, welcoming, and spiritually enriching environment.

Key Responsibilities

Program Planning & Execution

  • Design and implement engaging, age-appropriate children’s activities during nightly Tarawih prayers.
  • Ensure programming aligns with the spiritual atmosphere and values of Ramadan
  • Maintain a consistent structure for each evening while allowing flexibility for attendance and age ranges

Child Safety & Experience

  • Create a warm, inclusive, and respectful environment for all children
  • Ensure children are supervised at all times and that RCC safety guidelines are followed
  • Foster positive behavior, kindness, and respect in a group setting

Logistics & Communication

  • Coordinate materials, supplies, and room setup for children’s activities
  • Communicate clearly with RCC staff regarding schedules, needs, and any concerns
  • Serve as a point of contact for parents during program hours

Evaluation & Reporting

  • Observe and assess program effectiveness throughout Ramadan
  • Provide a brief written summary and recommendations following Ramadan

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience working with a wide age range of children in an educational or community setting
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to manage groups of children in a calm, structured manner
  • Comfortable coordinating volunteers and working collaboratively with staff
  • Understanding of Ramadan and sensitivity to the spiritual environment of Tarawih
  • Reliability, professionalism, and a warm, welcoming demeanor

Time Commitment

  • Daily evenings during Ramadan during Tarawih prayers (approximately 2.5 hours per night)
  • Planning before Ramadan and reporting afterword
