Five Million Sent. Fifty Million Sent.

Allahumma salli ‘ala sayyidina Muhammad…

It is the asking for prayers and blessings to be upon our beloved Messenger. The one, who at one point stood calling out to his (s) family, and only one answered. The one who stood calling from the mountain-top, and called out to his people – those who, only days before, had loved him and demonstrated their respect for him – and they jeered and turned away. The man, who would walk amongst people and be pointed at and whispered about.

We call out, “Allahumma salli ‘ala sayyidina Muhammad!” and stand by him, support him, adore him.

The calling out of Allahumma sali ‘ala sayyidina Muhammad is a response to his call. It is “Yes!”

It is “Here I am”

It is… “We stand as your family, your siblings, and answer your call”.
It is… “We stand at the foot of your mountain and cheer for you”.
It is… “We stand for you when you walk among us and sing your praises”.
Five million times Ya Rasul Allah – together, hand in hand, we have called out to you. And, in response, you have sent us your voice, your answer, your prayers, your love – not five million times, but 50 million times…

Fifty million.

Sound waves. They never end – once said; a word, or a phrase, or a sentence – it never disappears, but rather continues to float around in the universe. The sound wave that carried Allahumma sali ‘ala sayyidina Muhammad. The one that came from our lips, our heart, and exploded out into the universe – joining with all the other voices on Rabata and elsewhere..

And was then answered; answered with his voice… His heart… And has come back to us only to continue throughout the universe never to disappear…

All those prayers: circulating, charging, changing.

Allahumma salli ‘ala sayyidina Muhammad.
